The Trinidad Viaduct project was a multi-phase design-build contract for CDOT that Lawrence Construction started working on in January 2007. This project required demolition and reconstruction of aging infrastructure over Main Street and the Purgatorie River in Trinidad. Lawrence Construction managed to incorporate aesthetic features that tie into Trinidad's historic architecture and natural surroundings. The colors of the bridges, viaducts, and retaining walls match surrounding stone bluffs, making these structures look like they just belong there. While being beautiful these structures also improved access between New Mexico and Colorado's Front Range, this regional project was geared to attract new business and create a positive economic benefit for existing small businesses in southern Colorado. This project also encompassed pier construction, excavation, soil reinforcement, abutments, and MSE walls. In addition to constructing the bridges and viaducts Lawrence Construction was also responsible for the extensive utility relocations and an expansive public information service program.
