Owner: Urban Drainage and Flood Control Distruct
First Creek's flood plain was expanded by extensive channel improvements including moving 158,000 cubic yards of flood plain to stockpiles throughout the site, realigning about 3 miles of the creek, constructing rock drop structures, ripple structures, adding a pedestrain bridge, new overflow box culvert and trail.
To move the large amount of earthwork an intricate water management plan was developed which allwed the creek to continue flowing while work was being preformed, lowering our impact on the surrounding wildlife and agriculture.
Using extensive construction planning the floodplain was significantly lowered allowing for the new developments to be moved out of the 100 year flood plain. This project created a sustainable flood plain with 56 acres of revegetated creek and surrounding areas.
