Building a Better Future Together

Bronco Bridge (I-25 over 17th Avenue)

Owner: Colorado Department of Transportation
Contract Award: $18,691,620.93

Bronco Arch Bridge is directly adjacent to the Sports Authority Field at Mile High. This project included the removal of the existing structure, which was classified as one of the least safe bridges in America. Lawrence Construction replaced the I-25 Bronco Arch Bridge over the South Platte River which included two city streets, a trolley line, and a recreational bike path. Lawrence Construction was challenged to value engineer several highly complex changes to Bronco Arch Bridge which included deck components, superstructure girder, and the utilization of both precast/post-tensioned pier. The new Bronco Arch Bridge was built with four new retaining walls, permanent water quality structures, storm sewer improvements, utility relocations, and new pavements. Lawrence's value engineering on this project provided the community of Denver with traffic, safety, environmental, structural, and aesthetic enhancements.
